Hilti has updated ICC reports for adhesive anchors in accordance to IBC 2012, AC 308 and ACI 355.4. ESR-3187 for Adhesive Anchor HIT-HY 200, ESR-2322 for Adhesive Anchor HIT RE 500-SD and ESR-3574 for Adhesive Anchor HIT-HY 100 have been updated as of January 2015. The updated reports note compliance with the 2012 IBC. Bond strength calculations will be performed using the provisions of ACI 318-11 D.5.5.
PROFIS Anchor has been updated to include the changes implemented in these ESRs.
Prior to ACI 318-11, the anchoring provisions in ACI 318 Appendix D did not include provisions for adhesive anchor systems. Instead, provisions for calculating bond strength for adhesive anchor systems were given in the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC308. As of January 2015, adhesive anchor system design requirements changed in the 2012 IBC approvals. ACI 318-11 Appendix D now includes provisions for adhesive anchor systems, and provisions for calculating bond strength are given in Part D.5.5. The provisions and equations formerly given in AC308 for calculating bond strength have been removed, and now only ACI 318-11 D.5.5 contains provisions for calculating bond strength.
Beginning with adhesive anchor ICC-ES Evaluation Service Reports having 2012 IBC recognition, the characteristic bond strength values (τk) that are given in the tables containing BOND STRENGTH DESIGN INFORMATION have been revised from the values shown in previous Evaluation Service Reports. Testing per the American Concrete Institute test standard ACI 355.4, and the International Code Council-Evaluation Service Acceptance Criteria AC308, now requires the maximum short term/maximum long term concrete temperatures for Temperature Range A to be 130°F/110°F respectively. These temperatures have been increased from the previous maximum short term/maximum long term temperatures of 110°F/80°F respectively for Temperature Range A. The characteristic bond strength values (τk) based on these temperatures are therefore lower than values published in previous Evaluation Service Reports.
